Founders, Butterbelle Organics LLC
Butterbelle Organics LLC was founded in 2025 by mother-daughter duo Diane Doustou and Jenalee Minko of Maine. Diane has battled eczema for years and depended on topical steroids for relief. Jenalee’s daughter, Paris, also suffers from eczema and her part-Caribbean DNA doesn’t know what to do during the long, cold, dry Maine winters. She would get painful, dry sores on her body whenever the temperature dropped below the 50s.
In 2024, Jenalee was diagnosed with Sjögren’s Disease, an autoimmune condition that causes extremely dry eyes, mouth, and skin. She quickly discovered that an anti-inflammatory diet was helpful in managing her Sjögren’s flares and wondered what would happen if she applied the same anti-inflammatory principles to the health and beauty products she used. That wondering led to the creation of Butterbelle Organics!
Jenalee found that many national beauty brands’ products contain alcohol, preservatives, parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, and mineral oil, all of which can irritate the skin. When her search came up short, Jenalee began to research the ultra-moisturizing ingredients that now serve as the base for Butterbelle’s products, namely pure, unrefined African shea butter, pure coconut oil, and organic cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, to name a few.
